Descripción de la sesión

In 2025, a significant environmental disaster occurred in Zambia, when toxic mining waste polluted the Kafue River. Mercy Mulenga is an investigative journalist working for Yar FM Radio in Kitwe, Copperbelt Province and highlights the risks of resource extraction on habitats and livelihood. Trained under BBC Media Action’s MOTO initiative, Mercy’s most recent story uncovers the devastation caused to the environment and local communities by an acid leak from a dam. In this session, Mercy talks about her important work and explains how investigative journalism exposes the impact of resource extraction and hold those in power to account.
