This session is ideal for educators, parks professionals, program managers, teachers and community leaders seeking simple, staff-free ways to engage the public in meaningful outdoor learning. Participants will explore how the PEEP model can activate any green space with hands-on, self-guided science education tailored to local ecosystems and audiences.

Families in Nature’s Place-based Environmental Education Project (PEEP) is transforming how parks, schoolyards, and green spaces connect with the public, without the need for additional staffing or infrastructure. Developed in partnership with organizations such as SPARK School Park Program, Pease Park Conservancy, the Texas School for the Blind & Visually Impaired, and Waterloo Greenway, PEEP brings inclusive, experiential, self-guided environmental education to a wide variety of settings. Rooted in FIN’s Ecologist School Guidebook, each PEEP guide is custom-designed to reflect the unique ecosystems and cultures of its location. Each PEEP offers at least 64 hands-on activities across 16 branches of science, from botany to astronomy, empowering people of all ages and abilities to explore local biodiversity, ecology, and conservation through play-based, place-based learning.
