Por qué asistir

Understand the value of transboundary water cooperation as a driver for biodiversity conservation, sustainable development, and peacebuilding. 

Descripción de la sesión

Rivers and lakes connect people, ecosystems, and economies across borders. More than 40% of the world’s population lives in transboundary river basins. Cooperation, dialogue and trust over our shared water resources is therefore key for our shared futures and secure sustainable development, livelihoods and peace. This session will diver deeper into water cooperation, drawing on lessons from IUCNs long-running BRIDGE (Building River Dialogue and Governance) programme. The audience will get more familiar with BRIDGE, and the stakeholders that makes cooperation possible. Through stories from basins, participants will discover how cooperation over shared freshwater resources can advance conservation, strengthen livelihoods, and build peaceful, resilient societies.
